Marc Gilbard - Chief Executive Officer
Marc has been the CEO of Moorfield since he joined in 1996. Over the last 21 years Marc has led Moorfield’s transformation from a small property company listed on the London Stock Exchange into one of the leading UK specialist real estate private equity fund managers.
Marc has a long history in both real estate and corporate strategy – he is a Chartered Surveyor who has worked for a number of surveying firms and investment banks, including Gerald Eve, Edward Erdman, Union Bank of Switzerland, NatWest Markets and Goldman Sachs International. Marc initially specialised in investment and development finance and then became a top-rated real estate equity analyst and corporate advisor prior to becoming a private equity investor.
In October 2011, the Howard de Walden Estate appointed Marc to its Board as a Non-Executive Director and also as a member of the Investment and Audit Committees. In April 2016 Marc became Chairman of Audley Retirement Villages and a member of their Investment Committee. Marc is a Policy Committee Member of the British Property Federation (BPF), a Member of the Property Advisory Group to the Bank of England, a Member of the British Venture Capital Association (BVCA), a Member of the Investment Property Forum (IPF) and a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
Charles Ferguson-Davie - Chief Investment Officer
Charlie joined Moorfield in 2005 and sits on the Board and Investment and Executive Committees as Chief Investment Officer. Charlie oversees both the Traditional and Alternative investment teams who are responsible for the origination, analysis and execution of investments made by Moorfield and its investment partners. As Chief Investment Officer he is also responsible for overseeing investment strategy and portfolio construction.
Charlie has a degree in Modern Languages from Oxford University and prior to joining Moorfield he worked in corporate finance at Lazard in the real estate advisory group. Whilst at Lazard he was part of a market leading team that advised a number of listed property companies on M&A transactions and private equity groups investing in asset-backed transactions.
Charlie sits on a number of industry committees, including the BPF Build to Rent Committee and the IPF Indirect Property Funds Group.
Nick Edwards - Chief Financial Officer
Nick joined Moorfield in 2008 and sits on the Moorfield Group Board, Investment and Executive Committees as Chief Financial Officer. Nick is responsible for all aspects of our financial strategy, debt relationships, financial and management reporting, and the finance team. He also oversees Moorfield’s approach to risk management, which includes IT.
Nick has a degree in History from Durham University and qualified as an ACA with Arthur Andersen, where he worked in the Corporate Treasury Consulting team advising listed companies on their foreign exchange, interest rate and cashflow risk management. He then spent three years in Corporate Finance at Deutsche Bank where he was involved in a number of transactions across the IT and Business Services sectors. After leaving Deutsche Bank and before joining Moorfield in 2008, Nick worked at Xchanging plc where among other roles he was the Finance and Commercial Director of Xchanging’s 2,000 person insurance outsourcing business across the UK, US and India, where as well as Finance he oversaw HR, Legal and Property teams, and negotiated and structured complex outsourcing arrangements.
Nick sits on the main board of Audley Retirement Villages and is the Chairman of the BPF Finance Committee.
Graham Stanley - Board Director
Graham joined Moorfield in 1996 together with Marc Gilbard, having worked with Marc for the previous seven years. Graham now sits on the Investment Committee and is a Director on the Board, having historically focussed on the financing and investment strategy. He is a graduate in Business Administration and has worked for firms of Chartered Surveyors and investment banks, including Chesterton, Provident Mutual, Hoare Govett, NatWest Markets and Goldman Sachs International.
Robbert Zoet - Head of Investor Relations & Capital Markets
Robbert is Head of Investor Relations & Capital Markets at Moorfield, having joined in 2013 following a 24 year career in investment banking. Robbert leads the coordination and execution of our fundraising strategy and also works with any Moorfield entities that intersect with the public equity markets. Robbert has a degree in International Business and prior to joining Moorfield he was Managing Director of the European Equity Division of Morgan Stanley where he raised European capital for International companies across a wide range of sectors. Prior to this Robbert had also worked in investment banking at both JP Morgan and Lombard Odier.
Robbert sits on the Moorfield Executive Committee and the BVCA Investor Relations Committee. Robbert is fluent in Dutch and English.
Graham Sidwell - Senior Risk Director
Graham is the Senior Risk Director for Moorfield Investment Management Limited, the group’s regulated entity, and a Non-executive Director of a number of investment vehicles. He is a graduate in Economics and a Chartered Accountant. He qualified with Robson Rhodes (now Grant Thornton UK LLP), becoming a partner in 1985 and had a variety of senior management roles including responsibility for the London office and the South-East region. He was also Head of Corporate Finance for a number of years.
Graham sits on the Moorfield Investment Committee.
Sadie Malim - Head of Special Projects & Legal
Sadie joined Moorfield in 2007 and is Head of Special Projects & Legal. She is responsible for overseeing and implementing specific projects that require both private equity and real estate knowledge, as well as leading our in-house legal function. Sadie works closely with the Board on multiple fronts including the Moorfield (and its investments) brand, corporate communications and digital media strategy, together with various other operational matters. She also oversees our ESG policy and our transactional, legal and regulatory functions.
Sadie has an MA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford University and a post graduate degree in Law. Prior to joining Moorfield, Sadie worked in the Private Equity group at Clifford Chance where she advised international private equity clients on acquisitions, disposals, MBOs and listings.
Sadie sits on the BPF Healthcare Committee and Retirement Villages working group.
Mark Holmes - Head of Asset Management
Mark joined Moorfield in 1999 and as Head of Asset Management is responsible for overseeing and implementing the asset management business plans across our multiple real estate asset classes. Mark is a Chartered Surveyor with over 25 years of experience in UK real estate and he specialises in the managing and repositioning of assets using innovative and dynamic asset management initiatives.
Prior to joining Moorfield, Mark was an Associate Partner of St Quintin, Chartered Surveyors, where he led a team responsible for a number of substantial portfolios, including that of Moorfield.
Mark sits on the BPF Business Rates Committee and is an associate of the BPF Commercial Committee.
Jeremy Marchant - Senior Asset and Development Manager
Jeremy joined Moorfield in 1999 and is a Senior Asset and Development Manager. He has extensive asset management experience across all sectors of UK real estate and has been working in real estate for over 25 years.
Jeremy is a Chartered Surveyor and has a RICS Postgraduate Diploma in Property Investment from the College of Estate Management. Prior to joining Moorfield Jeremy was a Fund Surveyor and Portfolio Manager at Royal & Sun Alliance Property Investments where he managed a number of shareholders’ funds and managed and unit linked funds.
Hugh Canham - Senior Asset Manager
Hugh joined Moorfield in 2011 and is a Senior Asset Manager. He is principally responsible for the asset management of our Traditional real estate investments.
Hugh is a Chartered Surveyor and has an MA in Property Valuation and Law as well as the IMC (Investment Management Certificate). Hugh joined Moorfield in 2011 from ING Real Estate Investment Management where for five years he was the portfolio manager for the ING UK Property Income Fund (a Guernsey Property Unit Trust). Prior to joining ING, Hugh spent three years working in real estate consultancy and national investment for Lambert Smith Hampton.
Niall Southwell - Senior Development Manager
Niall joined Moorfield in 2007 and as Senior Development Manager is responsible for overseeing all of our developments activities across the Traditional and Alternative real estate sectors. During his time at Moorfield, Niall has overseen the successful delivery of development and refurbishment projects in the Industrial, Retail, Office, Mixed Use, Retirement Living, Student Accommodation and Build To Rent sectors. In addition, Niall works closely with the origination team collating the property due diligence and negotiating development delivery agreements.
Niall is a Chartered Surveyor and joined Moorfield from Simons Group where he was a project manager specialising in town centre retail and mixed use schemes. Niall worked previously as a quantity surveyor for John Laing Construction and Amey Group.
Niall sits on the BPF Development Committee.
Heiko Figge - Head of Hospitality, Leisure & Operations
Heiko joined Moorfield in 2013 and is Head of Hospitality, Leisure & Operations. As such, he is principally responsible for overseeing the operational aspects of our investments, particularly those in the Hospitality, Build To Rent and Student Accommodation sectors. Heiko has brought Moorfield over 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry, having previously managed Guoman & Thistle Hotels as Managing Director, Paramount Hotels as Chief Operating Officer and Marriott Hotels as Operations Director for their regional hotel estate. Heiko now focusses on applying the skills and expertise he learnt in the hospitality industry to our operational assets.
Heiko was educated and trained in Bonn, Germany and is fluent in German and English. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Hospitality and a Board Director of the British Hospitality Association. He is also a Board Director of Springboard UK, a charity that promotes employment opportunities for young and disadvantaged people in the hospitality industry.
Ross Netherway - Head of Alternative Investment
Ross joined Moorfield in 2010 and is Head of Alternative Investment with a specific current focus on the Build to Rent and Student Accommodation sectors. Ross leads the Origination Team in these Alternative real estate investment sectors and has originated and negotiated the pipeline of opportunities for the ‘Domain’ Build to Rent and Student Accommodation platform.
Ross has a degree in Government from Harvard College and prior to joining Moorfield he worked for Macquarie Capital in their infrastructure and real assets private equity group.
Chris Perera - Senior Investment Manager
Chris joined Moorfield in 2013 and is a Senior Investment Manager. Chris works in the Origination Team, focussing on the sourcing, analysis and execution of new investment opportunities, particularly those in the Traditional real estate sectors.
Chris is a Chartered Surveyor and holds an MPhil in Real Estate Finance from Cambridge University. He joined Moorfield from La Salle Investment Management where he worked in the Debt and Special Situations team. Before this he worked across three La Salle managed UK pension funds and previously with the M&A team at Jones Lang LaSalle Corporate Finance.
Nic Lowry - Senior Investment Manager
Nic joined Moorfield in 2013 and is a Senior Investment Manager. He works in the Origination Team, focusing on the sourcing, analysis and execution of new investment opportunities, particularly those in the Traditional real estate sectors.
Nic is a Chartered Surveyor and has a degree in Business in Property. Prior to joining Moorfield, he spent seven years as a Fund Manager and Executive Analyst at Invista Real Estate focusing on investment and corporate real estate transactions.
Patrick Ryan - Investment Manager
Patrick is a Chartered Accountant with a degree in Psychology from University College Dublin. He has a diploma in Property Investment from the IPF and is a member of the Investment Property Forum. At Moorfield, Patrick is an Investment Manager in the Origination team, with specific focus on alternative investment opportunities.
Patrick joined Moorfield in 2014 from KPMG where he worked in the Transaction Services and Strategy teams in both Ireland and the UK.
Steve Hall - Group Financial Controller
Steve joined Moorfield in 2008 and is Group Financial Controller in which capacity he oversees all reporting and statutory requirements of the group and is also Company Secretary. He is responsible for overseeing the structuring of acquisitions and for the financial aspects of transactions and also sits on the board of a number of the operational companies within the Moorfield Real Estate Funds.
Steve has a degree in Biology from University College London and is a Chartered Accountant. He joined Moorfield from Grant Thornton where he was a senior manager specialising in audit and transaction support for a range of businesses.
Jane Beglin - Fund Controller
Jane has a degree in Chemistry from Durham University and is a qualified ACCA accountant having gained experience in such diverse organisations as BT, Total Oil Marine and Kajima UK. Jane joined Moorfield in 2005 and is the Fund Controller for all Moorfield Real Estate Funds, having previously held a similar position with Innisfree Ltd, a leading infrastructure investment group. This responsibility includes the oversight of all aspects of fund financial management including the financial reporting of the Moorfield Real Estate Funds.
James Lee - Finance Manager
James is a Chartered Management Accountant with a degree in Accounting and Finance. James joined Moorfield in 2013 and as a Finance Manager is responsible for the financial management of a number of the Fund vehicles and investments. James joined Moorfield from real estate fund manager and venture capital firm, Palmer Capital, where he was responsible for the financial management of a number of their fund investments. James has also worked in the finance teams at Guildhouse UK Ltd and at US management consultancy firm JMJ Associates.
Andrew Trafford – Finance Manager
Andrew is a Chartered Certified Accountant with a first-class honours degree in Business and Management. Andrew joined Moorfield in 2012 and is a Finance Manager with responsibility for the financial management of a number of fund and group investments, including all Build to Rent and Student investments.
Prior to joining Moorfield, Andrew spent four years working for Residential Land, a specialist prime central London property consultant where he was responsible for the financial reporting of a number of HNW property portfolios. Before that Andrew worked for Places for People where he was Regional Finance Officer for London and reported on a portfolio of over 10,000 rented homes.
Allan Kruuse - Assistant Finance Manager
Allan is a Chartered Management Accountant and holds a degree in Accounting from City University of New York. Allan joined Moorfield in 2017 as Assistant Finance Manager and is responsible for various investment reporting requirements including Student and Build to Rent Investments. Prior to joining Moorfield, he has worked across several industries in London including serviced offices, property management, commercial retail, and hospitality.
Will Hubble - Management Accountant
Will joined Moorfield in 2017 as a Management Accountant where he is responsible for various financial and management reporting functions. Prior to joining Moorfield, he worked as a Management Accountant for Banijay Group, the largest independent television production company in the world. Will has a first-class honours degree in Business Marketing and is currently studying towards a CIMA qualification.
Christine Brooker - Senior Executive Assistant
Christine has been Senior Executive Assistant to Marc Gilbard (CEO) and Board members since 1996. Christine has background in office management and has previously worked at Co-ordinated Land and Estates and Frank Russell International.
Holley Caton - Senior Executive Assistant and Communications Manager
Holley joined Moorfield in 2012 and is the Senior Executive Assistant to the Asset Managers and the Origination team. Holley is the organiser for all Moorfield corporate events and also assists with Moorfields’s corporate communications, marketing and digital media.
Holley has an Executive PA Diploma. She joined Moorfield from Northern & Shell Media where she was the Executive Assistant to the CEO and Board of the Health Lottery. Prior to this Holley was PA to The Daily Express Sports Editor and provided team secretarial support to the Daily Express sports journalists.
Joanna Henderson - Office and Procurement Manager
Joanna joined Moorfield as Office Manager in September 2016, after managing the office of Global Family Partners, a multi-family office focused on direct investments.
Prior to that, Joanna was responsible for the management and creative direction of Fiction Illustration artists for a children’s publishing company, following on from a career as a Procurement Consultant working alongside various designers refurbishing international hotels, such as Sandy Lane Barbados, Grosvenor Penthouses Park Lane, and Rosewood London.
Joanna initially trained as an actress undertaking a 2 year diploma in Performing Arts, preceding a 3 year diploma course at the Academy of Live & Recorded Arts, London.
Octavia Chivers - Office Administrator
Octavia joined Moorfield in 2017 as an Office Administrator after a career within Customer Operations at global travel firm P&O Ferries.
Whilst completing a degree in Fashion Marketing from Regent’s University London, she has worked on visual merchandising and branding projects for luxury brands such as Browns, as well as working as Front of House during London Fashion Week.
