Domain is a company that was formed by Moorfield in response to the significant gap in the market for affordable student and key worker accommodation. It develops and operates high quality, purpose built accommodation close to universities or workplace locations.
Moorfield manages the development of all Domain schemes from identifying and acquiring the site through design, financing, planning, construction, marketing, opening and then operating the scheme. Sites are identified following a detailed analysis of cities with established higher educational facilities and the quantity and quality existing alternative accommodation.
All the schemes provide high quality city centre accommodation in a secure and comfortable environment that is designed to be highly energy efficient. The buildings are generally laid out in flats of six to four bedrooms, each with en-suite bathrooms, and a communal kitchen/living area that is comprehensively equipped. Domain operates each scheme, providing a comprehensive and responsive service to residents via an on-site management security and maintenance team.
Between 2000 and 2006, Domain opened 7 sites (Atlantic Point, Severn Point, Prospect Point, Mill Point, Trinity Point, Quay Point, Cambrian Point), which it then sold in 2006.
Domain remains a wholly owned subsidiary of Moorfield Group and the company continues to acquire and develop sites across the UK. As well as retaining its interest in the IES Kings Road building, sites in Loughborough and Winchester have also been acquired through MREF.
