Kew Green Hotels (“KGH”) was established in September 2001, with funding provided by Moorfield Group and Bank of Scotland, to capitalise on the growth opportunities in the limited service hotel market.

KGH opened its first hotel in 2003 and now has 19 hotels through-out England employing over 1,000 people under the Holiday Inn, Express by Holiday Inn, Days Hotels and Crown Plaza brands. Together these hotels have over 2,000 rooms with sales revenues approaching £50 million. A new 230 room hotel, currently under construction at Gatwick Airport, is due to open in early 2009 as the first new Courtyard by Marriott. KGH has also recently signed its first management contract for an independently owned hotel.

Originally KGH managed and operated its hotels under 35 year institutional operating leases but opportunities have arisen such that KGH now own the freeholds of 12 of their hotels and a long leasehold interest in another.

The hotels and their facilities cater for the demands of the business and leisure traveller as well as the conference and reception markets. Bedrooms are of a high quality with satellite television and wi-fi. All the hotels have a bar and restaurant designed in a contemporary style.

KGH is looking to own or manage sites that are in city centre, “premium” edge of town locations and key transport hub locations. Three of KGH’s hotels are at airports (Stansted, John Lennon, Liverpool and Gatwick). The focus is to develop larger hotels with over 125 rooms in high traffic areas. The ideal location will be highly visible from major traffic routes with strong complimentary offers close by such as health clubs and other leisure facilities.

KGH continue to look to expand their portfolio through acquisition or new-build or by entering into management contracts with third parties in locations across the UK.
